Peaceful sands and pine forests

Castro Marim's beaches sit in the far eastern corner of the Algarve, where the coast stays quieter and the water runs warmer. Praia Verde is backed by umbrella pine forest, giving kilometres of golden sand a natural character rare on this coast. Praia da Altura — a Blue Flag beach beside the village of Altura — offers a two-kilometre sweep of sand with full facilities.

The eastern Algarve's sheltered position means sea temperatures several degrees above the west coast, reaching 22–24°C between June and September. The proximity to the Spanish border keeps these beaches less crowded than their western counterparts, even at the height of summer.
