Fishing heritage and wide resort sands
Silves's coastline is brief — the municipality is best known for its inland Moorish capital — but Praia de Armação de Pêra more than compensates, stretching for several kilometres with calm, shallow conditions that suit families well. The beach town retains a working fishing quarter: colourful tuna boats still line the eastern end of the sand, and the old chapel of Nossa Senhora da Rocha sits on the headland at the western tip, overlooking the bay.
